　前回The Seven Deadly Sins（七つの大罪）の話をしましたが、今回はその反対のThe Seven Holy Virtues（七つの美徳）をご紹介します。

　前回の七つの大罪の順番どおりにその反対をあげるとhumility（けんそん）、liberality（寛大）、chastity（純潔）、kindness（やさしさ）、abstinence（節制）、patience（忍耐）、 diligence（勤勉）となります。七つの美徳のすべてを常に実行することは不可能ですが、人としてとても大切なことばかりですから心がけるという意識だけでも持っていたいと思います。
さて八つ目の大罪のspeedの反対はなんでしょうか。
簡単に「速さ」の反対の「遅さ」だと、slowの名詞形 slowness ですが、slownessは「のろのろ」というイメージがあります。一語では良いものが思い浮かばないのでtaking time（時間をかける）はどうでしょうか。そういえばアメリカにいた頃、あるレストランで食事をしたときにTAKE TIME と書かれたペーパートレイがあって、とても気に入ったのでいただいてきました。20年たった今でも大切に持っています。

Take time to love, it is the foundation of life
